Customer Insight: Brevity

September 1st, 2026

What’s your biz all about? Give us the lowdown!

Brevity is a boutique engineering consultancy based in Auckland, with the team working across New Zealand, Australia and the Philippines. We specialise in interiors, racking, events, and construction compliance, helping clients navigate complex regulatory requirements with clear, practical advice and fast turnaround times. Our mission is simple: to challenge the traditional engineering model by combining expert knowledge with innovative technology, delivering simple solutions and stronger connections for our clients.

What made you take the leap and start your business?

Brevity was founded to meet a growing industry demand for engineering solutions that are practical, responsive and better aligned with clients’ needs.  As the business evolved, we recognised that the traditional engineering consultancy model would also need to change. Automation was advancing, digital delivery was accelerating and clients increasingly expected faster and simpler solutions. Rather than waiting for the industry to change around us, we decided to help shape its future. That thinking continues to guide Brevity today: stay curious, challenge established ways of working and use technology to deliver better outcomes for our clients and our team.

Hit any big milestones or wins recently? Share the good news!

One of our most exciting recent milestones was our company-wide AI Hackathon. We brought our entire team together for a virtual event focused on exploring new ideas, testing emerging technology, and finding smarter ways to solve everyday challenges. It was a great opportunity for everyone to collaborate, learn from each other, and see the incredible potential of AI across our business. The energy, creativity, and ideas that came from the event have helped shape how we continue to innovate at Brevity.

Best advice for small biz owners or freelancers?

Don’t be afraid to challenge the way things have always been done. Small businesses have the advantage of being agile, so use that to your benefit. Build strong systems, stay curious, embrace technology, and keep your focus on creating value for your customers. The right processes and tools will give you the freedom to spend more time working on your business, not just in it.

What’s your #1 productivity hack?

Every day, each department spends 15 minutes together as a team. It’s a chance to celebrate what we’ve accomplished, identify anything standing in the way, and make sure everyone finishes the day with a clear plan for tomorrow. It’s a small habit that keeps us connected, accountable, and moving in the same direction.

Why TW – What do you love about us?

We absolutely love the workshop! The atmosphere, the community, the other members, and of course Pippa make it such a great place to be. The team does an amazing job creating opportunities for everyone to connect through morning teas, events, and shared experiences. It’s more than just a workspace—it feels like a community that genuinely supports collaboration and connection.

What’s you current TW set up and why does it work for you?

We’re currently based in an office pod and operate a hybrid model, with our Auckland team spending two days a week in the office and three days working from home. Each person has one fixed office day and one rotating day, which helps ensure everyone gets the chance to connect and collaborate with different team members. It strikes a great balance between focused work, flexibility, and in-person collaboration.

Coworking vs. home or café – what’s the real difference?

It creates opportunities for spontaneous conversations, sharing ideas, and networking with people outside your immediate team. Those unexpected interactions often lead to fresh perspectives, new connections, and ideas that wouldn’t happen in a traditional office or isolated home environment.

How’s the Workshop vibe helped you level up your work?

Being part of The Workshop has helped our Auckland team remain connected while working within a flexible hybrid model. It has also introduced us to people from a diverse range of businesses and backgrounds. The conversations and relationships formed here bring fresh energy and different perspectives into our working week. The wider sense of community is particularly valuable when much of our broader team works remotely or in other locations.

Three words to describe The Workshop – go!

Welcoming. Connected. Energetic

Someone thinking about joining? What would you say to them?

Do it! You get all the benefits of a professional workspace, whether you’re looking for a place to focus, collaborate, or simply feel part of something. The Workshop has it all—the perfect balance of productivity, community, and connection.
